Les jalets, « rocks » in old French, refers to the round pebbles deposited by the alpine glaciers which are very present in the Crozes Hermitage appellation. The wine mainly comes from the Châssis plain. Production does not exceed 40 hectolitres per hectare. It is a light wine, with agreable soft tannins, which give immediate pleasure.

A deep violet colored wine with an expansive nose of red and black fruit, earth, licorice and candied fruit aromas. It has smooth, rounded tannins and very lush and rich, concentrated red fruit on the palate. A supple and complex full-bodied Syrah that drinks great now to 2009. It makes a nice accompaniment to charcuterie, duck, herbed chicken, and Indian food.
