Ron Kovic served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War as a Marine Corps sargeant. He was paralyzed from the chest down in combat in Vietnam on January 20, 1968, and has been in a wheelchair ever since. He is an accomplished author and painter, and a tireless advocate for peace.
