One of the earliest of the lacecaps to bloom for us, Hydrangea serrata Blue Billow is modest sized at 4 x 6. On acid soil its lacecap blooms are an intense, dark iridescent blue. A robust plant with very large, deep blue lacecap flowers if grown on acid soil, or a fine crimson if not. One of the most robust of the "Teller" group, Hydrangea macrophylla Blaumeise still warrants a bit of extra protection at the end of winter to assure good bloom.
