Bluebird houses should be located in open areas or at the edge of a pasture, field or orchard, where bluebirds can see the ground dwelling insects they thrive on. Place houses 4-5 feet high, preferably on a pole. To set up a bluebird trail for Eastern bluebirds, place several houses 100 - 150 yards apart.
