2004 Elegant, pure, mineral no-oak style Chablis. Focused citrus fruit and chalk dust fill the palate. Good length.

From vineyards just below “Les Clos” and “Blanchots,” this is neutral-oak aged to express the soil of Chablis. Strong citrus, white peach and chalk on the nose. Tastes of quince, lemon pulp, lime, grapefruit, mandarin orange and (you guessed it) Chablis CHALK! Good acidity but not tart.

Burgundy The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. In Chablis, Chardonnay is left unoaked to produce lean, crisp, steely wines with incredible acidity - a far cry from the vanilla-oak bombs that so many consumers associate with this grape. Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness... Expressive citrus, with lime, lemon zest, grapefruit and kiwi intermingling nicely with chalk, stones, vanilla and bark. Medium-high acidity with a creamy texture. Good balance.

40+ year old, Premier Cru vines. Tanzer: “Pale yellow-green color. Pungent aromas of minerals, silex, crystallized lemon peel and ginger. Sweet, dense and downright silky for this cru, with pliant yet vibrant flavors of lemon, lime, minerals, stone and spices. This really coats the mouth. Remains sweet and fine through the lingering finish.”

A powerful fruit flavor. For me, this wine is a complex wine that may take more then one glass to figure out. It might be fun to take a chance and pair it with a smoky hard cheese.
