Fattoria La Lecciaia Brunello di Montalcino
The cask-aged 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is dense and sweet, with superb intensity in its dark cherry fruit that is buffered by elegant tannins. Its open, accessible personality makes it a great choice for near-term drinking. This is yet another example where the regular bottling offers greater balance and harmony than the top-of-the line selection. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.

WA 93Pts - WS 90Pts - Tasting Notes - according to Robert Parker, the 2004 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a gorgeous bouquet of dark raspberries, flowers, tobacco and French oak, that melds seamlessly onto the palate, where this sweet, layered wine reveals its considerable pedigree. Deceptively medium in body, this expansive, vibrant wine offers tons of fruit supported by ripe, firm tannins. The finish is long, sweet and fresh. La Gerlaメs Brunello will benefit from a few additional years in bottle...

Brunello di Montalcino 2004 La Lecciaia
Fattoria La Lecciaia is becoming one of the most consistent producers of Brunello with outstanding wines every vintage. This latest release from the super 2004 vintage may be their best yet. Wine Spectator scored it 93 points and said: "Plush aromas of black cherry and blackberry. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and a long, delicious finish. There's fresh acidity and lots of subtle flavor on the finish. Still needs a little time to open." Very limited.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO LA LECCIAIA
It is interesting to note that Brunello di Montalcino is a relatively new wine. It was started by Biondi-Santi just at the turn of the 20th century and, for a long time, there were only a dozen producers of Brunello. Brunello is Sangiovese; it is a special clone which has bigger berries than Sangiovese. It is found mainly on the Hill of Montalcino, and there are now more than 150 producers of Brunello di Montalcino in the DOCG.

- Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes from a specific clone called "Brunello" in the town of Montalcino. Situated in the southwestern part of Tuscany the town of Montalcino sits on a ridge about 400 feet above the Eastern plain. This ridge divides the region into three diverse growing areas. The northeastern part produces wines with brighter fruit, more cherry and high tone notes and somewhat leaner body. The southeastern portion often referred to, as the "Golden Triangle" is the home of Biondi Santi...

Gemini is a special 500-case selection of the finest barrels in the estate. It is not a riserva, but certainly it is a deluxe bottling which rested a year in new oak barrels and another year in big oak botte. With a deep aroma, this wine has it all. Silky texture, excellent fruit and structure with a lovely spice to it. Full, yet drinkable now.

Region : Italy As the world’s top wine-exporter, Italy is an important wine region both because of the amount and quality of wines produced. Just two grapes—Nebbiolo and Sangiovese—are used to make some of the finest Italian wines, including Barolo, Brunello de Montalcino and Chianti. Still, Italy is home to dozens of wine grape varieties, with important wines being made from Corvina, Barbera, Cortese, Moscato and traditionally French varietals. The major wine regions include Piedmont, Tuscany, Emilia...

Poderina's Brunello is very unique, rustic, and a wine that deserves to be contemplated; especially the nose. Intoxicating aromas of dried flowers, earth, and dark fruit mingle with some smoky oak aromas. When you drink it you’ll see the beauty of this small estate on your palate. They don’t make much of this (around 3,000 cases), but what they do make is simply lovely.

2004 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "La Fortunas 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is especially beautiful in this vintage. The wine is remarkable for its density, richness and concentration, all of which have been achieved while maintaining clarity and freshness. The French oak is beautifully integrated in this sumptuous, generous Brunello. Suggestions of flowers and spices add notes of brightness on the finish. The Brunello spent a whopping 40 months in 25-hectoliter medium-sized casks prior to...
