Sold as hip-hop's Great White Dope, rapper Asher Roth ("The King of the Blumpkin") came on the scene with the great "I Love College," an infectious slacker anthem as simple as ""I love college," I love drinkin', I love women" and with a "Chug! Chug! Chug!" chant in the middle. A hilarious 18-minute freestyle on Tim Westwood 's radio show made him all the more lovable, but Asleep in the Bread Isle is an everyday suburban rap album, if there is such a thing. The first problem is the big cut itself...

Comment: I totally agree with the reviews of album. After hearing the greenhouse effect I myself was very disappointed in the album. I actually like is flow, the content is ok, the beats below average, the production so so, guest spots were better but overall the album fell mad short. What I can't agree with is the personal attacks on the kid. Who cares that the first album he bought was dave matthews does that mean he doesn't like or represent real hip hop. Not everyone is born in the same environment...

In the summer of 2008, then unknown Asher Roth’s debut mixtape, The Greeenhouse Effect Vol. 1, hit the internet. Hosted by legendary Atlanta DJs, DJ Drama and Don Cannon, the mixtape caught the attention and respect of finicky hip hop fans across the web. Over the next few months, hip hop and indie music press outlets featured Roth in select publications. The buzz lifted him onto the cover of XXL in November 2008. Since then, every major media outlet from Rolling Stone to MTV to Playboy has named...
