Throughout the 20s and 30s the Cartier house and Van Cleef & Arpels were instrumental in driving its popularity worldwide. The style regained its US popularity during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today, many top jewelry designers continue to offer Art Deco-style jewelry in their original...

A wonderful find for the collector of Art Deco pieces. This is an old trinket/jewelry box featuring an unusual pattern. It's 4 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" deep and 2" high. I'm not positive about the material but I believe it's a synthetic plastic or resin-not ceramic or wood and it doesn't appear to be Bakelite.

Beginning in 1920, the Art Deco period signaled the start of the modern era. Jewelry, like the art of the period, was designed to evoke images of technology, of the jetliner, the skyscraper and prosperity. It used bold colors, dramatic geometric designs, and continued some of the animal motifs of the Art Nouveau era which preceded it. Inspired by vintage designs, this Swarovski crystal-encrusted brooch reflects one of the most whimsical art periods of our time. Plated with gold. 1.75" high.
