This is an original old harp from Africa. This form is typical for harps of the Mangbetu (and also the Azande) people of northeastern Zaire, now the Dem. Rep. of Congo. These harps were used in Court life.

Nigerian Fela Sowande's African Suite (three selections) from 1930, scored for string orchestra and harp, incorporates traditional Nigerian melodies and the influence of Ghanian composer Ephiraim Amu.
