Over 1.8 million Liberty Head $10 gold pieces (or eagles) were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1893. This sizeable quantity met the coinage needs and desires of many Americans in the 1890's who were distrustful of paper currency. The best alternative was coinage with significant intrinsic value, such as $10 and $20 gold pieces. The 1893 Liberty Head eagles bear a classic design featuring Liberty on the obverse, and an eagle with a shield on the reverse.

These classic American silver dollars are as close to mint-state as coins get. In fact, many were shipped to ICC as "Uncirculated," but did not quite meet the uncompromising standards of our ANA-trained grading staff. Each has nice original luster but just the slightest trace of wear at high points. This Liberty was modeled on the Statue of Liberty; "PEACE" appears below the vigilant eagle on the reverse. It was the last silver dollar used in American commerce. We'll choose a 1920's date.

The obverse of these obsolete Egyptian bronze coins shows a military bust of King Fuad, father of King Farouk. Fuad exalted himself from Sultan to King when Egypt declared its independence from Britain in 1922. Now more than 70 years old, they were among the first coins of modern Egypt to show portraits. Natural blue fiber on the face enhances the original aspects of this beauty. It is difficult to encounter fully "Choice" or "Gem" notes. These original paper notes with trace corner handling represent excellent collector values compared to many other American currency notes.

The face margins are complete, but on the close side. However that is compensated for with the beautiful paper originality and dark printing.
