2006 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard
The 2006 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard, which comes from both the new Dijon and California heritage clones, is very impressive. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of black cherries and blackberries, some subtle camphor and crushed rock, medium to full body, and beautiful, fresh acidity and moderate tannins in the finish, this wine could easily evolve past 10 years, a rarity for a 2006 California Pinot Noir.

Description: "Distinct with its pepper notes. Firm, complex and concentrated, with black cherry and wild berry flavors moving to the forefront. Has enough tannin to cellar short-term. Best from 2001 through 2008. 630 cases made." WS

Inky ruby. Potent aromas of blackberry, boysenberry and dried rose, with exotic Indian spice and gingerbread nuances adding complexity. Deep, fleshy dark berry flavors show liqueur-like depth and intensity, with slow-building tannins adding grip and structure. Develops more vibrancy and red fruit character with aeration and finishes with outstanding clarity and sappy persistence. This is another '07 from Williams-Selyem that calls for patience

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. The nose offers a stunningly aromatic array of red and dark berries, baking spices, fresh flowers and incense. Coats the palate with sweet red berry preserve flavors, picking up candied rose and smoky minerals with air. Finishes gripping and very long, with a trail of sweet red berries." Description: "The brilliant 2001 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard (planted with the Martini clone, Dijon clones and the well-known Oregon clone known as Wadensvil) is a rich, Volnay-like effort. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied a sumptuous bouquet of juicyblack fruits intermixed with earth, wood, and flowers. Pure, vibrant, and medium to full-bodied, it should drink well for 7-8 years. All things considered, 2001 and 2002 are the finest back-to-back vintages I have tasted from Williams-Selyem...

2002 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard 750ml
Very dark, almost inky in color, and powerful in extract, showing high-char oak, cherry candy, raspberry and dark chocolate flavors. Certainly a big, robust wine, with good acidity. A little clumsy now, but should develop complexities. Wine Enthusiast. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2002 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard 750ml

Good deep red-ruby. Captivating aromas of cherry, rose petal, cardamom and forest floor. Precise, spicy and fruit-driven, with a generous, fine-grained texture. Shows a strong wild berry character, along with a cola element. This has a lovely sugar/acid balance. With aeration, this wine showed the strongest minerality of any of these 2004s to this point. Finishes with dusty tannins. 91 points
