Novy Family Page-Nord Vineyard Syrah 2005
Novy Page-Nord Syrah shows an unusual level of complexity on the nose. It is full of rich jammy fruit but also an earthy, even mineral character. On the palate it has good weight, rich dark fruits, and a unique black coal element. A combination of good natural acidity and a slight tightness at the back of the palate leads us to believe that this wine will only become more complex and interesting with several years in the cellar.

Huntington Petite Sirah 2005 Huntington Petite Sirah 2005 is one of those wines that will appeal to a wide range of palates. The flavors are pure and concentrated and the tannins provide adequate structure without being intrusive. This dark red, almost purple wine is uncomplicated and very enjoyable to drink. Huntington Petite Sirah will be a great wine to serve at your next party. Just hope that nobody spills it on the carpet.

The "reasoned fight" approach agricultural management calls for minimal treatments if necessary in the vineyard. It evaluates all of the farmer's economic objectives and risks while being respecful to the enviroment. It calls for use of non-residual products whenever possible. Use of herbicides in the vineyard is eliminated. Sulphur treatments are few and the powder form is never used for the sake of human health.

Turleys inky/blue/purple-tinged 2005 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard possesses a boatload of tannin as well as a fabulously concentrated attack and mid-palate. This full-bodied monster reveals beautiful purity and intensity as well as a superb attack and richness. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the next 20-25 years.
