Perhaps the most lauded release from what may consider to be Napa Valley's finest historical vineyard site. Yes, it is pricey (but so is the fruit
trust us, we know), but worth a splurge. Robert Parker waxed poetic, calling this 'a profound Cabernet Sauvignon. The equivalent of a Bordeaux first-growth Pauillac, it boasts abundant quantities of creme de cassis, lead pencil shavings, cedar, and subtle smoky oak and espresso notes

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 95 points Deep red. Powerful dark berry aromas are complicated by cured tobacco, licorice, cedar and incense. Very sweet but poised, with expressive red and dark berry flavors supported by gentle acidity and framed by silky tannins. Gains weight with air, finishing lush and chewy, with outstanding length. As I went back to this it seemed to grow fresher.

100 points Robert Parker: "The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard is one of the greatest young Cabernets I have tasted from California. Believe it or not, it reminds me of the way the 1986 Mouton-Rothschild tasted at age two or three. It is a classic from the tenderloin of Napa Valley the Oakville corridor. This 650-case cuvee has a dense purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of cedar, licorice, spice box, and gobs of creme de cassis liqueur-like notes. The wine has...

Rated 96+. Not surprisingly, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard is a profound Cabernet Sauvignon. The equivalent of a Bordeaux first-growth Pauillac, it boasts abundant quantities of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, cedar, and subtle smoky oak and espresso notes. Atypically sexy for a 2006, it is full-bodied with oodles of concentrated black fruits, stunning purity and length, and a finish that lasts for nearly a minute. It should hit its apogee in 3-4 years, and last for three decades or more. -Robert Parker. - Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer - Tokalon 2006 750ml United States California Napa -

This wine reveals an astonishing array of aromas: blackberry, black cherry, cola, vanilla, black licorice, caramel, lavender and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is round and creamy with rich flavors of blackberry, cherry, cassis and rum raisin. The mid-palate is viscous, with sweet full tannins that linger through the finish, along with notes of tobacco, black olive, dark chocolate and a touch of espresso. This stunning wine pairs well with grilled filet mignon, spicy lamb stew or roast squab...

Wine Spectator review of 2001 Score: 94 (100 possible) Smooth, dark, rich and seductive; a remarkably complex and concentrated wine brimming up with ripe, silky currant, blackberry, black cherry and a fresh remember and fresh earth and pencil lead nuances. It firms up nicely on the finish exhibiting ripe, flavorful tannis and a long, persistent fish that reveals extra...

97 points and three stars from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "This stunning effort stands as our favorite of the remarkable lot of new 2005s from Paul Hobbs, and its seductive sensations of deep, optimally ripened curranty fruit and sweet-scented earth speak to the vinous virtues that make classic Napa Valley Cabernet unique in the world, and its generous dollop of lovely oak completes a near-perfect picture. Big, balanced and already showing a sense of polish that is uncommon in a...
