2004 Miller Wine Works Syrah Sage Canyon Vineyard
Displaying the inkiest ruby/purple color, the 2004 Syrah Sage Canyon Vineyard exhibits sweet aromas of blueberries, blackberries, licorice, earth, and a notion of spring flowers. This is the most plush and opulent of these cuvees, no doubt because of its higher glycerin level. It should drink well for 7-8 years.

The Brookside Vineyard is located between the Carneros and Mt. Veeder appellations. The maritime influences in this area are said to produce the correct conditions for Syrah to excel. A bouquet of dried herbs and flowers leads to ripe flavors of boysenberry and wild blackberry. Crisp notes of pepper and mineral complement the long, satisfying finish.

Tensley Wines, established in 1998, is a family owned and operated winery in Santa Barbara County. They have produced many interesting wines, but this one in particular stands out. Full-bodied with rich tannins, this complex red offers layers of wild berry, sage, mineral, licorice, and earthy smokiness. Drink it now, or age it in your cellar for 10 - 15 years for a completely different experience.
