Black Diamond Verdict Skis
The powerful, race-inspired design of the Verdict bridges big mountain and in-bounds skiing by handling firm on-piste snow as easily as it rules powder and chunked-up crud. The Verdict's 102 mm waist (slightly less-fat than Zealot), Formula One Technology and a damp 3D CNC wood core provide exceptional agility and render decisive, high-speed turns. The geometry is nimble with a terrain-busting tip and a stable mid-section that floats underfoot.

Volkl Women's Kiku Flat Freeskiinig Skis
Contrary to what other ski shops insist, the Volkl Women's Kiku isn't merely a "Girl's Gotama" ski. It's lighter, easier to turn and excellent for intermediate to expert women who ski powder and crud in the backcountry or along the fringes of big resort areas. This lightweight twin-tip has a female-specific wood core that's an agile balance of Sensorwood made from vertically laminated poplar and beech wood and integrated with strips of balsa. The result is a big weight savings over something like...

This ski is the lightest, softest 170cm ski that we sell. Meaning it is the absolutely easiest adult sized ski that we have. If that appeals to you, then this is certainly a fine choice. I tend to prefer the Head XENON skis, which run the gamut from beginner to advanced, but the XENON 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 are definitely in your neck of the woods. I would recommend going with a tyrolia RFD 12 regardless of what ski you get.

The K2 Xplorer made its debut in the Apache series last year and because of its versatility became an immediate success. Being the widest ski in the Apache line gives it an advantage in soft snow to help you track out the resort on those deep powder days but enough side cut to lay down trenches across the corduroy on those groomer days as well. The broad range of versatility and high performance comes from a unique combination of an 84mm waist, metal laminate cap construction and generous 17/16 progressive sidecut that allows it to perform well on both soft and hard conditions. Volkl introduced a replacement for the Explosiv last season, and it really took off. POWDER did a full page article on it in their buyers guide, and we sold out of many sizes very early. Head's Intelligence technology: is essentially an array of fibers inside of the ski that absorb the mechanical energy that your muscles are putting into the ski, and convert them to electrical energy. The more energy the fibers absorb, the stiffer the ski becomes. So the faster you go the more stable this ski is. We were the first one to say that this was just some gimmick jargon, but the stuff actually works.
